My puppy looks like a Bichon Frise, how can I confirm her breed?

Hi and thank you for your question on PetCoach! From the pictures (cute by the way), I would say Eli may be a Bichon Frise or Bichon Frise mix. You can find out exactly what Eli is through genetic testing. It is a little expensive but is interesting and that way you can know for sure. Here is a link to one I'd recommend: http://www.akc.org/dna/faq/ Might make a neat holiday gift! Thanks again for using PetCoach and best of luck to you and Eli!

This puppy is quite cute and does have some characteristics that are seen in a Malinois. That being said, we cannot determine with 100 percent certainty the breed of a dog from a photo. If you want more certainty of the puppy's breed you can consider trying a dog DNA test. There are several available. I have had clients use both the Wisdom Panel https://www.wisdompanel.com/ and the Royal Canin genetic test http://www.royalcaningha.com/

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your puppy. I believe the puppy is a mixed breed. She may be a Pomeranian and Papillon mix. However, if you want to know for sure, there are DNA test kits available for at home use. You take a cheek swab from the kit and mail it to the company. Then you will receive the test results and breed information. I hope this information helps!

As you mentioned, it’s a bit of a guessing game to determine the dogs breed based on pictures alone. However, Chappie, Candle, and Jimmy look most like Chihuahua mixes to me. There are DNA tests available, such as Wisdom panels, but nothing is 100% accurate. Regardless, they’re adorable!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Fluffie. She is adorable! I suspect that she is mixed with a Cocker Spaniel, Shih Tzu or Havenese. Dog DNA test kits are available if you want to know for sure. She could be a combination of more than two breeds. You take a cheek swab and mail it to a laboratory. The DNA results of her breed combination are sent back. I hope this information helps!

Both of those breeds have a longer coat and based on the photos Paris has a short coat rigth now, however she may develop one as she gets older. It is difficult to tell at this age, especially when you are dealing with a mixed dog, because you can have a mix of characteristic traits that don't completely look like one breed or another. I would allow the pup to grow up a bit more then re-assessing, or I would consider having a dog DNA test done through your local vet. They really are quite affordable and require a quick blood sample. You will also gain valuable intimation on what genetic predispositions she has and what diseases she may develop later in life. I would start there if you are looking for an accurate assessment right now. We are only right about 30% of the time when using visualization only in a puppy this young. I hope everything works out well for your pup. And at any rate she is a good looking puppy and seems very happy in her new home. Best wishes and take care.

What a beautiful cat! Judging by her coat color and quality she very well could be a Turkish Angora, however there is no way to know for sure. There are several different DNA testing kits that you could try that may help you determine her breed. Whatever her breed, she’s gorgeous! Good luck on with your lovely cat!
