My chihuahua puppy has an upset stomach and nausea. What to do?

Your puppy sounds very ill, and if Aurora hasn't been vaccinated, she could be suffering from parvovirus causing her to throw up, have runny stools, and not eat or drink. It could also be she has a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or could have a pyometra as I see she's not spayed. It's not common to get a pyometra in puppies, but it can happen. I would consider her symptoms a medical emergency, and she needs to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

There could be a few different things causing his vomiting. It can be from a virus, a foreign body, an intestinal upset or even pancreatitis. I would recommend bringing him to the veterinarian for some testing to make sure it is just an intestinal upset. They can discuss with you antacids and a prescription bland diet. If Paco got into the trash, he certainly could have eaten something that has caused him to vomit. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

I'm sorry your puppy is ill. In a young small breed puppy any vomitting or diarrhea may become serious very quickly due to their small size. If chili is having vomiting or diarrhea I recommend finding a veterinarian today. I am assuming the stool is diarrhea since he is going every 2 hours. Diarrhea is associated with urgency and straining. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, food allergy/intolerance, new food/treat/table food, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, medications. Sometimes we never know the cause. Since he vomited and the diarrhea is severe I would fast him for 12-24 hours. Food just adds fuel to the fire. After the fast start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day until 2 normal stools. If he continues to vomit, stops eating, the diarrhea doesn't improve or blood appears in the stool he should be seen by your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish Shark bit a speedy revoery!

Vomiting can be caused by intestinal parasites, intestinal blockage, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, parvovirus if not fully vaccinated, among other things. Because you've given Nacho a bland diet for a day and he is still vomiting, I recommend you get him in to your veterinarian when they are open. The vet will be able to perform bloodwork and X-rays and figure out why Nacho is vomiting.
