Border collie eye drops not working. What's wrong with her eyes?

I'd recommend contacting your veterinarian to discuss what other tests might be recommended. It may be that Bella has a resistant infection, allergy or autoimmune disease. If your vet isn't sure about the next step you could also ask about referral to an ophthalmologist who would be able to do a thorough evaluation. I would recommend stopping any home remedies as many essential oils can harm the sensitive eye.

I am so sorry to hear that Kaimana is experiencing these problems with her eye. Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Kaimana to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is injured, inflamed or infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Her to scratch or rub her eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. An rlceration is a tear in the top layer of the eye and is a serious condition. Because eye concerns with dogs, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly I would have her examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the issue immediately. The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. Your vet will use a special tear stain drop to visualise the eye and the top layer to make are there are no ulcerations, and check for other conditions before prescribing medications. Please do not attempt to treat an eye infection at home with any over the counter medications, drops or ointments. This can lead to permanent damage and unnecessary pain or discomfort. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can’t say for sure from the pictures but it looks like there may be a defect on her cornea. I would stop the medication and get her back to the vet in the morning so they can stain the eye to look for a new problem. If it’s not a problem with the cornea, they need to check tear production (even if her eye is watering) and check the pressure of the globe. You can continue with the Tobrex but if no improvement after 5-7 days he should see a vet. I suspect he may have entropion but I cannot tell for by looking at photos. However, there are some other diseases that really need a very thorough evaluation of the eye to diagnose. I think that if he has not improved on the current therapy, it may be a good idea to check in with your veterinarian. If they are concerned based on their knowledge of his case, they could consider having you consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist. This is likely to be due to a corneal ulceration, possibly due the enrolling of the lower eyelid and its rubbing against the eye surface. The blue discoloration is due to the presence of inflammation in the anterior chamber of the eye. The other signs seems to be related to the ulcer. I would recommend another check up to determine the underlying cause of it more specifically and give appropriate treatment. Serum and antibiotic eye drops will be needed.
