My pregnant cat has a painful neck lump and is acting strange. Why?

This could be a swollen mammary gland that got very inflamed, it's quite common in lactating cats, you should get it checked by your vet as she may need to take anti inflammatories if it is bothering her.

It is hard to see clearly the extent of this lesion as the photo is a bit blurry. It definitely looks like an infected skin lesion....whether it started as a ruptured abscess, a traumatic wound or other...I cannot say for sure. This should be seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible for proper treatment which should include a prescription antibiotic and wound cleaning. If it needs surgical debrisement, make sure the doctor is aware of the pregnancy. Hopefully it can just be cleaned without any sedation, but medication is going to be needed to treat the infection. There are numerous antibiotics that are safe for pregnant cats.

It could be an abscess, it could be a cyst, it could be a lymph node swelling due to infection, or it could be related to a dental problem. It is concerning that is has kept on swelling for the past three days, and now is the time to take him into the vet. Your baby may be suffering from mastitis (inflammation of the mammary gland). This is very painful and you really need to take her to the vet for an exam. and pain medicine and antibiotics if called for. In the meantime you can put warm moist compresses on the teat. This should relieve some of the pain temporarily.
