My fluffy cat is pregnant. Will kittens find nipples? What can I do?

Hello, at this point, just give her some more time, as long as she does not seem to be in any distress. Milk letdown is often stimulated with uterine contractions & the physical stimulation of the kittens attaching to the nipples. Since I cannot see the actual discharge you are seeing, I cannot say if this is normal cervical secretions or a problem, so if you are very concerned, contact your veterinarian to examine her to make sure she is having a healthy pregnancy. Ok. It is likely she has some milk letdown and it dried around her nipples. I wouldn't worry about this, unless there is obvious irritation/redness around her nipples. She will clean herself. Most cats don't need assistance from a vet when they go into labor, and do quite well on their own. If the nipples are not hot or painful and your cat is well in herself (she is not lethargic and is eating and drinking well) there is most likely nothing to worry about. You may try to put the kittens on the bottom nipples and see if they will latch and if the mum would let them feed from these nipples. If you noticed that the nipples became hot and painful you should get your cat checked by your local vet as these may be signs of mastitis.

Hello, mammary chain development does not occur until very late in pregnancy. As she is nearing labor, she will begin to produce milk and her mammary glands will become enlarged. Usually the mom will take care of them. Just make sure they are all nursing and she is grooming them all. I would try to no let her sit on them as she could smother them if she isn't aware she is sitting on them. You are doing a great job. If you find that one is weak or not nursing you may have to supplement with kitten formula and either a syringe or kitten bottle every 2-3 hours. You will also have to stimulate them to pee/poop by rubbing their behind with a warm wash cloth every time they eat. I hope this helps!
