My 7-week-old Persian kitten is small. Is her age accurate?

What a cutie! She looks healthy but being so small is a concern. I do recommend a veterinary exam when she’s due for vaccinations and checking a fecal sample for intestinal parasites. Some kittens grow at a slower rate so I’m not overly concerned about it yet, but if she doesn’t grow then she may have a medical problem that should be addressed. Her baby teeth have erupted, but she appears quite small. Kittens typically weigh 2lbs at 8 weeks of age so you can use this as an estimate as well. I hope this information helps!

She's cute. She looks to be around 4-5 months of age, but you should weigh her. Her weight in months +1 is usually how we guess kittens ages. You should look at this photo to determine if this kitten is male or female. Noushmc might just be a small cat! If she eats a correct portion of food for her weight and age and if she continues to grow, even if slowly, if her appetite is good, the urination and defecation is normal and she is happy and playful, I wouldn't be worried at the moment. If Silver is almost three years old now, she should be completely finished growing - so I would not expect her to get any bigger. Some cats do stay very petite in size; this isn't necessarily abnormal, as long as she seems healthy otherwise. If she is eating and drinking fine, active, and not overly skinny then I wouldn't worry - she may just be a small kitty :)

Kameo is adorable! She may not get much bigger if she has not grown much in the past 6 months. This is not normal per se for cats, but may be common for runts of the litter. Nutrition may help with this as well as ruling out any underlying medical conditions heart, liver, kidney issues through a throrough physical examination by a veterinarian + screening bloodwork. A top rated food that I recommend for a cat of this age is Royal Canin Kitten dry and wet food. It is highly palatable (most cats love the taste) and provides better nutrition than many other commercially available brands of cat food. I recommend transitioning gradually over the course of a week into the Royal Canin Kitten diet (1st 2 days 75% old food 25% new, 2nd 2 days 50%/50% old/new and last 2-3 days 25% old/75% new). You will likely notice an improvement in Kameo's coat and skin health on the Royal canin diet. If she does not grow significantly by the time she is a year of age....continue her on the Royal canin adult cat food, maintain her at a good body condition score (not too far or too thin), and give her lots of love! Kittens like people come in all shapes and sizes!

She does seme a bit undeweight, if that is what you are asking. You should be feeding her 3 times a day, around 1/4-1/2 cup each feeding. Also have her stool checked for parasites. Intestinal worms can cause malnutrition in cats because they are taking all her nutrients that she ingests. There are general dewormers available at your local pet store, but getting her stool tested first is ideal. She is at the age where she needs to starts vaccinations anyway, so a vet visit for a general health check is the next best step towards her care.
