My Persian cat is weak after kittens. When is it safe to breed?

Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence lasts for more than 24hours. It is recommended to wait until they are a little older before having their first litter. In my experience, young cats are not good mothers to their litter. I would wait until she is 18 months-2 years.

Cat should not be bred until they've reached full maturity - sometime between 18 months and 2 years of age. I would recommend that the two cats are of similar sizes as using a much larger male can result in kittens that are too large causing problems at birth. You should also have both cats examined by a veterinarian prior to breeding to ensure that they are both healthy and have a no apparent hereditary conditions that could be passed on to the kittens. Please also keep in mind that pregnancy and delivery can result in some complications sometimes even needing surgery and you should be prepared for these expenses.

Beautiful cat! Unfortunately there is no way for me to give you any sort of idea on age or health just by looking at the photos. You would need a vet to do an exam in person. All I can say is that she definitely appears to be an adult (over 1 year of age). As for breeding, it is recommended that females not have a litter until at least 18 months of age although they technically can become pregnant and have a litter as young as 7-8 months old. They can continue to be become pregnant and have litters well into their early teens. Not recommended to do so but it is possible. Whether or not you should 'go for it" is entirely up to you. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Personally I think she is getting very close to being too old. I would have an exam and bloodwork done by your Vet. If everything comes back fine then you can try. I wouldn’t breed her 10 or older and would spay her as soon as you are done. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Nature allows cats to become pregnant again quite quickly after having kittens. They can go back in to heat, if it’s the right time of year right, around when the kittens are weaned. Rhis is normal biology for cats. They are recovered by then. I don’t advocate breeding on purpose that way. I hope this helps and have a great night

She's probably fine but without examining her myself I cannot be sure of that. If you are worried about her you should have her checked out by your vet. As a side note, 11 months old is very young to have had kittens already. When breeding cats it is recommended to wait until they are 18-24 months of age. If she is not a breeding queen I would suggest you have her spayed in order to avoid future aggressive behavior.
