My outdoor cat looks fat. Is she pregnant without a vet visit?

If she mated 80 days ago then it is unlikely she is pregnant from that mating as the average gestation is about 65 days. You could have a vet examine her and do an ultrasound or x-rays to see if she is pregnant.

That could be diagnosed at around 25th day of pregnancy by quite expert ultrasonographers, or possibly later (36-40th day) with abdominal radiographs or manual palpation. Unfortunately only the ultrasound can give you information about the vitality of the kittens. There are hormonal tests available as well, but not everywhere and cost could be higher. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

Gestation period is 63 days for cats, so you can probably wait it out. Cats do not usually need help giving birth, just make sure she has a spot that she likes and where she can have her kittens. If you really need to know whether Lainie is pregnant, you should take her to your veterinarian for a pregnancy exam (x-rays or ultrasound, or even palpation). She may let the vet check her.

Hello, if Lacey got out and is no longer going into heat, it is very likely that she may be pregnant. Normal pregnancy in cats is about 65 days, give or take a few. In the later stages of pregnancy you will see her abdomen become enlarged and she may develop enlarged mammary glands as well. These signs would be highly consistent with being pregnant. Alternatively since it has been 2 months, she should be able to undergo an x-ray to see if there are any kittens that she could be carrying. This can be done by having her examined with your family veterinarian. Hope this helps and best of luck.

She does look quite full! She should be pregnant for 64 days and will start making milk after the kittens come. The only way to know for sure how many kittens are in there would be an x-ray at the vet. Good luck with the the babies!!

She very well may be pregnant. Her belly does look abnormally big there. Watch for signs of pregnancy such as mammary gland engorgement, continued weight gain, increase in appetite. Also you can have her seen by your vet for an exam to check for fetal heartbeats or to identify the fetal skulls, via radiograph (as early as 45 days gestation). If she is suspected to be pregnant then it's also best to feed her kitten food which is going to satisfy her high calorie requirements and ensure she makes a good supply of milk for her kittens. Best of luck with Flash. I hope everything works out well for you both.

Don't panic! Unless you know exactly when she ovulated, you don't know exactly when she is due. Cats have an average gestation of 65 days from the time of ovulation, and she may have ovulated days after she was bred. Hang in there, and watch for signs of nesting, restlessness, and inappetence.
