My kitten was attacked. Will his mom reject him after recovery?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months old | 3 lbs

A few days ago he was attack by a dog he was peeing blood and and dragging his back legs I've been giving him cranberry juice and the peeing blood thing has stopped ive bandaged his legs and confined him in a crate now he's starting to walk again and eating and playing he still has a bad limp on one leg which is still bandaged but is in happy spirits I think he's strong enough to be put back with his mom and the rest of the litter will she reject him?

Hi I'm pretty worried that Beans may have a serious injury. Young kittens have very fragile bones easily broken if attacked by a dog. If Beans is 2mths old, he doesn't need to be with his mom anymore, most kittens wean around 5-6 weeks. I strongly recommend you take him to be examined by his vet to determine if he has any broken bones or wounds that require antibiotics. Limping is a sign of pain, and I know you'd not want him to be in pain. Do not give him any human pain medicines as they can be toxic to cats.
