Why is my 8-week kitten screaming, not playing, and has yellow snot?

Max may have an upper respiratory infection. If he is really lethargic, has a decreased appetite, or the nasal discharge is yellow or green, he should get checked out by a vet. As with all viruses, they need to run their course. But there are some medications that may help with the symptoms, as well as supplements like L-lyisine that can make the symptoms go away a little sooner.

This is very concerning. Your kitten sounds very sick. I think she may have a virus (or possibly a large parasite burden). You should take her to the emergency vet as soon as possible to see what can be done. Before you leave, apply a little honey or syrup around her mouth as she may be weak from having a low blood glucose level. I hope she pulls through.

Being so young, he can dehydrated easily if he does not eat and drink properly. He may be experiencing an upper respiratory tract infection. See if he has any eye or nose discharge as well as any sneezing. Gastrointestinal infections can cause him to not feel well and are usually accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. Finally, if he sustained an injury he could have the symptoms you reported as well. His veterinarian will be able to differentiate between these causes. I hope this information helps!

Hello. Bear has an upper respiratory infection most commonly caused by a virus. If Bear is eating well, & acting fine, his symptoms will hopefully pass in a week or so. Most cats do not need antibiotics. But if he develops any significant conjunctivitis, severe sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy or loss of appetite, please see your veterinarian for appropriate treatment. It may have been that the kittens were perfectly healthy the other day and now it sounds like the male is having symptoms of a upper respiratory viral infection with the sneezing. These viruses usually are self limiting and do not cause major illness. However, if he is not eating, continues to vomit, and/or is acting lethargic please have him rechecked as soon as you can.

Poor Bee. Since she is so young they are susceptible to infections more easily. I would be concerned about an upper respiratory infection. I would make sure she keeps eating, keeps drinking,and call your veterinarian first thing in the morning. If they aren't open this weekend at all, I would recommend taking Bee to the ER rather than waiting till Monday. In the meantime, a few times a day. I would run your shower really hot, close the door until the room in steamy. Then place Bee in there for 10 minutes. Helps break up secretions. Good luck

Poor kitty. It sounds likely your kitty has an upper airway infection. She will need to see your vet to have this treated with a short course of antibiotics. In most cases that is all that is needed to get kitties feeling better after an infection like this. I hope that Brat feels better soon! Best of luck and take care. : )
