Why are my kitten's pee clumps bigger since using a water fountain?

Other worrisome signs are weight loss, vomiting and changes in activity level. Urinary tract infections are rare in male cats, but will typically result in smaller than normal urine spots in the box. Straining or crying in the box are other reasons to see a veterinarian. If he cannot produce any urine at all, that would be a true emergency. It sounds like he does not have any of these symptoms. I suspect that he is getting the majority of his fluid from his diet. I hope this information helps!

She is at the age where her food intake will naturally decrease because she no longer needs the three meals a day regimen she was getting as a younger kitten. The only thing I would keep an eye on is her urination habits. If she is urinating more and it has a foul odor to it, you may want to get her checked for a UTI. The best way to distinguish between these problems is urine analysis. You should try and catch urine sample (you can remove the litter from the tray or put just shredded newspaper instead of the litter) and collect urine sample once Batta urinates. Alternatively, your local vet should be able to collect the sample at the clinic. Stress-induced cystitis can be triggered by changing the diet, so it is possible that frequent urination in Batta is due to stress. Changing the diet back to the previous one should solve the problem, if that is the case.

No this would not be completely normal and may be an indication of urinary tract inflammation. Increasing water/fluid intake by feeding a wet food is very helpful and ensure any dry food is formulated to reduce crystals and urinary issues such as a specialist neutered cat or urinary formula. Monitor closely for any pain, discomfort, increased frequency or blood which would need veterinary treatment. Severe cases can end up with complete obstruction so prevention is best

Hi there! Congrats on your kitten! If your kitty is eating soft kitten food on his own, he may be getting enough fluid from his food. I would keep offering water, but I wouldn't be too worried about how much he's taking in as long as he continues to grow and be playful with a good appetite. As long as water is available, he will figure it out. Canned kitten food is more complete and balanced than formula, so if he's eating that then it's a better option than formula. You could encourage a bit more water intake by adding extra water to his canned food and mixing it into a slurry. It wasn't indicated how long you've had him, so I'm not sure if the not pooping is a concern. Cats will generally defecate about 1-2 times daily. Of course, if you feel something isn't right, then it's best to have him checked out by your vet.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it Noushmc is otherwise acting 100% normal I think she will be fine. Just watch her closely. Also if she eats an all canned food diet there is a lot of water in that so animals will drink less. Or she could be drinking water from somewhere else (toilet, sink...puddle outside). If your kitten is eating well and is playful and otherwise normal, I would not be too concerned. However, if he is drinking so much that he is vomiting up water or urinating excessively, then I would recommend an examination by your veterinarian.
