My adopted kitten's feral parents returned and attacked me. Help!

Cats do not have familial bonds once weaned and grown. If they are related, there is no further attachment to you kitten and they don't know about him or want him back. They may be meowing because they are hungry or thirsty and it is likely unrelated to your kitten being there and they were not drawn there to harm your kitten. They may have belonged to someone and are looking for care and affection.

So sorry that he is exhibiting this behavior. That does sound scary! I think you should call the shelter where you adopted him and give them an update. I am not sure if they have any prior history to know if this is a typical behavior for him or something new but he doesn't sound like a good fit for you. It could be that he is just scared and needs more time to adjust but if he is being aggressive toward you than I am not sure it is a good idea to keep him and he may need to go back to the shelter. Give them a call and discuss the situation with them. I don't want you to get hurt!

Cats are very sensitive to other cats in their territory. Unlike most dogs that will accept another dog into their house relatively easily, for cats it can be a different story. Your cat is upset by the presence of the strange cat in your house. Animals behave that way sometimes for reasons that are unclear, taking their anger out on you. She may smell the foster cat on you. I would definitely keep them separated from each other and give her some time and space to possibly accept the fosters presence. Don't get hurt! I wouldn't force your attention on her for now. Maybe in a few days she'll be easier to approach.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Teagra likely visually doesn't remember the kitten sadly. She goes by smell with recognition. The kitten, since it was in a different home, smells different to her. It just may take time for her to accept it as a new house mate. You can rub the kitten down in her bedding or the other remaining kittens bedding. Also using feliway diffusers or spray to help calm her may help. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Animals have short memories and will not recognize family or cats they previously knew if they are separated for a length of time. Cats go by smell and behavior. I would recommend confining Fuzza in a room by herself for 2 weeks to allow the cats to get used to her smell from under a door. Get a few Feliway diffusers (multicat) to put around the house, be sure one is in the room with Fuzza. After 2 weeks use a baby gate at the door or put Fuzza in a cat carrier a few times per day so all the cats can see each other and smell each other. Do that for a week. Then let Fuzza out in the house for short periods of time when you are home. If things are going well then they all can be out together permanently. If it doesn't work out you may have to find her a new home. I wish you the best!

Stay away from the shed and mama will come in a quiet moment and either move the kitten or stay and take care of it there. The longer you stay around the shed, the more likely she is to abandon the kitten,

The best thing you can do to help this family of cats would be to have your parents contact a local animal control officer, who can rescue these cats and bring them to a shelter so they can get any necessary treatment (deworming, flea treatment, and appropriate food), and be put up for adoption. These cats, especially as strays, are likely not vaccinated and can be dangerous to handle, and can spread diseases amongst themselves but also to humans. I hope this is helpful!
