My kitten is crying in pain from a shoulder injury. What to do?

You can probably wait until the morning to take him in to your regular vet. Just try to keep him calm and comfortable until then the best you can. If he starts crying out in pain for no reason, is vomiting without stopping, or having any bloody vomitus or diarrhea you should take him in tonight. Otherwise he will likely be ok until morning. I'm sorry to hear this! There are many conditions that can cause a cat to cry in pain, including fractures, soft tissue injuries, clot formation in a back leg (saddle thrombus), among others. Your cat should be seen by a vet immediately if he is in pain so that the underlying cause can be diagnosed and managed appropriately. There are no safe over the counter pain medications for cats, so do not give him anything without speaking to your vet.

This is an emergency. You need to take your kitten to a pet ER right away. Small kittens can die very quickly from injuries but they can also recuperate very quickly if treated properly. It is important to find where the blood comes from and how serious the injury is. The fact that the neck is hurting is especially concerning. Please take your kitten to an emergency veterinarian now.

That does sound very worrisome. Unfortunately an injury to the spine is not something that we can diagnose by hearing the clinical signs. As you know, a back injury can be very serious. I recommend to get mittens in to see the veterinarian quickly. The doctor will be able to palpate the back and should get an idea as to if a back injury is likely. Pets can also get soft tissue muscle pulls, hip pain and a variety of other ailments that are not as serious as a spinal injury. The first step though is to get her checked out. Poor Tom! Without seeing him I cannot say for sure what he has injured. He could have simply sprained a muscle or broke a toenail. Unfortunately, he could have also broken a bone. I would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and take x-rays if needed. They will be able to get him started on pain meds and the proper treatment plan to help him feel better. I hope this helps!

Poor CJ! It sounds like he is in pain if he's walking slower, struggling to lay down and get up, and cannot bend to clean himself. I would be concerned that he has a problem with his neck or back. It possible he was injured. My advice is to rest him tonight, and take him into a vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing his pain, and can treat him for it. The vet can also prescribe pain medication as needed. Please do not give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Best of luck.

Grey should really be seen by a vet as soon as possible., If this is not an option, you should keep him rested and offer small amount of water and liquid food every 2-3 hrs. You may have to use a syringe if he is not taking food by himself. Unfortunately, human painkillers are dangerous to cats and there are no home remedies either that can be helpful for Grey. It is hard to say what happened to him, he may have broken limb, muscular discomfort or painful abdomen from internal organ trauma. He needs full clinical assessment to find out what has happened.
