Is it true that feeding my kitten beef will make him grow bigger?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A small amount of cooked beef should be okay as long as it isn't too fatty. The main source of nutrition for your kittens should be kitten food, but a small amount of beef is unlikely to cause any harm. If you note any vomiting or diarrhea after offering beef then I wouldn't offer any in the future. Cute kittens! Good luck with them!

Purina, Science Diet & Royal Canin are the better companies. Make sure that Meena has been & continues to be dewormed on a regular schedule, & make sure she receives the proper vaccinations at the proper points in her life. She does not need anything fancy or special, nor to you want to supplement her food with any additional vitamins or additives, unless your veterinarian recommends something. Do this & Meena will grow sleek & strong. Take care.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Raw beef is missing other key vitamins and minerals that kittens need to develop so I do not recommend feeding that alone. I would try canned kitten food and put it on a plate so she can stand in it and eat it. If she goes 24 hours without eating, I would take her to a vet to make sure there are no physical problems causing her not to eat a balanced diet. Good luck and kisses to Reena!

Kittens do the majority of their growth in the first five to six months of life but continue to grow until they are around one year old. During this time of rapid growth and maturation of their bones, it is very important to choose a complete and balanced diet with the appropriate levels of nutrients. Diets formulated for growth include those labeled for kittens or “all life stages.” Canned foods promote increased water consumption in cats, and feeding dry food exclusively or in combination with canned is also acceptable. Offering a kitten with a variety of textures early in life can be helpful in minimizing the chance of having a picky eater. Regardless of diet selection, always make diet changes gradually by mixing the old and new foods together over five to seven days and make sure to carefully measure the appropriate portions of your cat’s food. Abrupt changes have a greater likelihood of resulting in vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Hello. Not sure exactly what your question is. Do you want to know how much to feed him? If so, that is completely dependent on the brand of food you are feeding. We always recommend you follow the instructions on the packaging. Be very careful not to let him eat too much at one sitting. Rule of thumb when they are kitten is that they should weigh about a pound for every month old they are. Example: if he is 3 months old, then he should be around 3 pounds. Also, you can stop the milk. He is past needing that and it can actually cause more harm than good at this stage. I am sorry to hear about your concern for your kittens! Royal Canin kitten food would be a great food to feed them, I normally recommend that or Purina Pro Plan kitten. If they seem to be slow to grow I would also recommend an examination by the vet to ensure there are no health problems and for them to have a fecal checked to test for intestinal parasites and deworm with a product like Panacur and Droncit to treat for possible parasites.

Unfortunately I can't recommend feeding a diet such as you are suggesting. Kittens need minerals (among other things) for proper growth, especially calcium and phosphorus, and they need to receive them at a specific ratio. Commercial diets specifically prepared for growing cats are formulated properly, and I would urge you to feed one of these. Royal Canin is available in India, and they have an excellent diet for kittens.
