How to help tiny feral kittens with eye bulge get urgent treatment?

Poor kitten, glad you found him. Probably need to get him into your local veterinarian as soon as possible to get all this checked out, but in the meantime, you might want to gently clean up those areas around the nose and ears with some warm water and cotton balls. Be sure to wash your hands afterward in case of ringworm. You could gently hot pack the swelling around the eye, again with cotton and warm water, but this is only supportive help until your vet can examine it and recommend appropriate treatment. Nutrition is very important with small amounts of dry or canned kitten food mixed with warm water or kitten milk replacer, available at your vet clinic or feed store. Feed at least 4-6 times daily small amounts. Be sure to monitor the litter box for urine and feces and if none, then may need to wipe the genital areas with warm water and soft cloth to stimulate the process of elimination. Regardless, they need to see a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as this is likely causing significant discomfort. They would be able to evaluate the eye and see what the functional condition of the eye is. They can make treatment recommendations based on that. Good luck and have a great day!

I would suggest that you visit a local chemist " farmacia" and ask the chemist to purchase an ointment to treat an eye infection in a stray kitten. "Pomata oftalmica per un gattino randagio". Hope this helps !

The most common cause of swollen conjunctiva and raised third eye lids are viral infections, most commonly feline herpes. We can only treat the secondary bacterial infections associated with the viral infection. Some cats are chronically affected by herpes, while others have flare ups with stress. Marie should see a Vet to be sure there are no scratches on her eye and to have a safe antibiotic eye ointment prescribed. You can try calling your local SPCA to see if they offer a low cost Veterinary Clinic. I hope this helps and I wish Marie a speedy recovery!

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Unfortunately there is not much you can effectively do back home without veterinary assistance. A picture of it would help to give you further advices. They most likely have upper respiratory infections (URI) and will need antibiotics (both oral and topical in the eyes). If you are going to adopt/rescue kittens you need to be able to afford veterinary care. They are going to need vaccines, deworming and to be spayed/neutered as well. So, if you can't afford their treatment you should consider relinquishing them to the local Humane Society so they can get treated. This is not something you can treat at home, I'm sorry to say. All that being said, there are many low cost/affordable vet clinics in your area (based on the zip code you provided) so if you really want to keep them then find a clinic and get them treated. Hi Ashley. I see what you mean about the eye bulging. This cannot be treated at home, you will need to take her into a vet. Do not try to open the eye, it could cause serious damage. I'd take her into a vet asap.
