My dog reinjured his ankle, now won't eat, can't walk, and peeing inside. Help?

No, this isn't normal, and Oliver could have strained a ligament or even torn a ligament in his leg causing him the pain when he plays really hard. I would have him seen by a vet for a physical exam, lameness exam, and x-rays. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose what is causing his pain and can discuss treatment options with you.

Poor buddy, he sounds very uncomfortable. This sounds like a very complicated case, especially when it is so severe to affect his appetite also. I would recommend referral to an orthopedic specialist to determine what is causing the pain in his joints, severe infectious or autoimmune arthritis can spread to many joints but can unfortunately be very difficult to treat and manage in the long term

Oh no! Since Griffin seems painful, the best thing you can do is take him to the vet to determine if a fracture is present or if a soft tissue injury (such as a sprain) is present. The vet will be able to prescribe any necessary pain medications, but do not use anything over the counter for pain, as none are safe for dogs. Until you can get to the vet, keep Griffin confined to a very small room or crate to prevent him from moving much or trying to jump, as this could exacerbate any injury. You can try tempting him to eat with a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice, but Griffin is most likely not eating due to discomfort. I hope that he feels better soon!

This sounds like he’s in pain. It can be from arthritis, a knee ligament injury or pain from his back. Arthritis should show up on x rays, and he would be lame on one leg if it’s a cruciate ligament injury. Back pain can be caused by a bulging intervertebral disc and can me difficult to see on x rays. It can cause trouble walking with incoordination. Regardless I would try Tom on pain medication to see if that helps and keep him quiet. No running or jumping and lots of short slow leash walks. Once the pain is controlled he should eat better. If there is no improvement I recommend a rcheck or an exam with a veterinary specialist. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Hallie! She is possibly not eating due to pain associated with the injury which often times can affect a dog's appetite. Of course other unrelated causes for her not to eat cannot be completely excluded. With these types of injuries, there is usually more trauma than what can be seen from the outside. I recommend that you have Hallie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may take radiographs to check her bones in the affected leg. They would be able to check the extent of her injuries and proceed with therapy as indicated. She may require antibiotics, further local wound therapy and pain control medications. Poor baby. It sounds like he may have injured something. It is common for them to injure their back or neck and act this way. I would have your vet look st him today. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and give him the appropriate pain meds to help him feel better. If it is his lower back, you vet may also prescribe him a stool softener so it is easier for him to have a bowel movement. Your vet will also be able to do X-rays if needed. I do not recommend to give any human pain meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!
