Is my cat's white penis tip from catheter or new crystal blockage?

I can understand being concerned about Buddy. If he was blocked, he would be going to the litter box multiple times, would be straining to urinate, would be yowling in pain when he tries to urinate, and would pass only small amounts of urine or no urine at all. If you see any of those signs, rush him into a vet immediately. It could be he is suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones causing him to lick his penis. It can be normal if the bladder is empty. It could also be a sign that he is obstructed again. If he’s painful, not eating or his abdomen is firm and painful please take him right in for a recheck. If there’s no urine in another six to twelve hours then that is an emergency and he’ll need to be seen right away for treatment again. Hi and thanks for your request. A certain increased urination is to be expected after these procedures. If he is persistently licking the back end/genital area and he is urinating very frequently or you notice blood in the urine then a recheck up will be unfortunately needed.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm so sorry this happened to Smeagol! The blood and mucous or mineral material you describe are common for blocked cats. Usually the catheter remains in place until the urine is a normal yellow color. Usually 3-4 days is sufficient. Ideally, Smeagol will also get antibiotics to prevent an infection from the catheter and medications for pain and urethral spasm. Poor Oreo! After a blockage, cats might only urinate small amounts frequently, but as long as he's peeing, that's positive. I would expect to see some blood, as he has sustained trauma to his urethra with the blockage and subsequent unblocking. I would continue to monitor him very closely, as reblocking can occur 7-14 days from the time of discharge. This is because the urologic syndrome that led to blocking in the first place is still continuing and as long as the episode continues, blocking is a possibility. Any loss of appetite or vomiting should be reported to your veterinarian at once. If there is any concern about reblocking, your vet can determine fairly easily if the cat has re-blocked.

I am sorry to hear about Tiger. A photo of the area may help us to better determine what could be going on with him. There are several different possibilities, including a prolapse urethra (especially if the tip of the penis looks round or enlarged), cystitis, stones in the bladder or urethra, a mass/tumor in the bladder, or a bad bladder infection. I would recommend getting him in to see a vet today. If you think he is unable to urinate or he seems lethargic/is vomiting then it would be considered an emergency as he could have a urethral obstruction/blockage and this can be deadly if untreated. The vet will examine him and may test his urine and recommend an x-ray to determine the source of his problem.

It's important to know if he is on his way for a urinary blockage, which is what it sounds like, if this is the case he is going to get worse fast and needs to be taken back to the vet in order to get it checked, he might need hospitalization with a urinary catheter placed to avoid the blockage from re-occurring.
