My cat is throwing up, not eating, has anal swelling and gas. What's wrong?

Poor Splash! This vomiting could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. Given that he has been vomiting since Friday morning, it's time to see a vet as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing the vomiting so he can be treated . I would take Splash into a vet now.

Hi. Unfortunately, there are many possibilities let causes of vomiting and not eating. This can range from something they ate upsetting the tummy, toxins, parasites, or even a foreign object in the GI tract that he swollen that could be stuck. The last one we get very suspicious of in young kitties. I would highly recommend getting Bart in to the ER this evening.

Smokey is a handsome boy, and I'm sorry he's sick! He could have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, may have pancreatitis, or could have a GI illness causing his symptoms. It's serious when a cat doesn't eat, as it predisposes them to a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Given he's been sick since Friday, he needs veterinary care now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I'm sorry to hear Friday isn't feeling well. Gas pain can be very uncomfortable and could be what is making her lethargic. There are numerous underlying causes of gas and lethargy in kittens, and an exam can tell us a lot as to what is going on. I would be concerned about possible intestinal parasites, as many kittens are born with worms and need to be given a deworming medication to clear them out. She also could have a viral infection or a bacterial overgrowth of her intestinal tract that is causing the problems. The majority of owners should not be able to feel intestines in their pet, so I am worried that you are feeling something abnormal in her abdomen. Sometimes with inflammation the intestines will feel "ropey" when we palpate them. I think Friday needs to be seen by your vet for some supportive care (deworming, fluids, etc), and to try to figure out what the underlying cause is so she can get back on track.

Clyde needs to see his veterinarian. Just like with humans, many things can make cats threw up and not eat. This can range from a parasitic infestation to an intestinal blockage. Any pet who is not eating for 24 hours needs to be examined by the doctor as dehydration and other complications can set in quickly. Have Clyde examined today. It sounds as Mukie is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Poor kitty! If she is vomiting and not eating or drinking, this is a serious problem - even if the problem began because of stress, she will quickly become dehydrated if this continues. I would recommend having her examined by a vet as soon as you can - he/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to find out what's wrong and get her started on IV fluids and other supportive care if needed.
