My cat's urine has fat droplets. Is this normal or a health issue?

Lipid, or fat, droplets are not considered pathologic in a urinalysis. Cats and dogs frequently have a certain amount present in the urine. There can be several causes for the GI upset which should be worked up by your veterinarian if symptoms persist. Large quantities of urine may indicate some degree of renal impairment, especially if he is drinking more and has dilute urine. This would also warrant a work up that may include more blood work to further assess kidney function and an abdominal ultrasound to assess kidney size and architecture.

You do nothave to worry about cinstipation with bloody diarrhea. She may have an infection or inflammatory bowel that is causes part of these symptoms. Since there is blood in the stool she needs to be checked to see what medicine can be given. You can try to switch to a sensitive stomach formula food and add a feline probiotic to help replenish normal bacteria until you can get seen

Hi there! That stool appears within the realm of normal. It does look a touch dry, so I'd monitor the cats for any signs of constipation and make sure they're both defecating regularly (at least once daily) and eating well. But I suspect it's normal. :-)

Cats can get overweight from eating too much and get a fat belly, but I wouldn't say it's normal. I would say it's unhealthy to have a fat belly. Being overweight can predispose cats to many health issues including joint problems, diabetes, and cardiac disease. I would have Ernie seen by a vet on Monday for a health check. The vet can confirm that he is overweight and can discuss a diet plan for him.

Other worrisome signs are weight loss, vomiting and changes in activity level. Urinary tract infections are rare in male cats, but will typically result in smaller than normal urine spots in the box. Straining or crying in the box are other reasons to see a veterinarian. If he cannot produce any urine at all, that would be a true emergency. It sounds like he does not have any of these symptoms. Hi there. Without being able to examine him, it's hard to say if this is a problem or not. I can tell you that it's normal for cats to have a fat pad that dangles down from their abdomen, between their rear legs - so if this sounds like what you're seeing, then it's likely not a problem but he would need an exam to know for sure. If you're seeing something different, then I don't know what it would be, and would definitely recommend having him checked by a veterinarian when you are able to.

I have not heard of the Royal Canin hepatic food causing a discoloration of the urine. I suggest you take some photos of the brown urine to show your vet. They will be better able to help you since they have Kissi full medical history and blood test results. If a urinalysis was never performed it would be a good idea to do so.
