My pet has a skin issue. Can I send pictures to a vet for advice?

I would have this examined by a veterinarian in order to determine what this could be by testing this further. Pete will likely require oral antibiotics and topical treatment for appropriate therapy. Based on the pictures and your description, I suspect Mazie may have a bacterial skin infection. I would recommend having this looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If you are posting photos they are not coming through. There must be a glitch in the system. I apologize for that but unfortunately I cannot comment much without a photo. All I can say is that many skin diseases look the same. The only way you are going to get a diagnosis is by taking her to the vet and having an exam and some testing done. Even if I saw the photo I would just be guessing. In a younger dog the most common things to cause a hairless spot are ringworm and mange but there are other possibilities. Sorry, that is the best I can tell you right now. Maybe try posting again tomorrow and hopefully the photos will be showing up.

Based on the picture it is difficult to tell if there is irritation on the surface of the skin or pigment changes underneath it. Skin lesions can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. If the area is itchy I recommend you have your pet seen by a vet to help determine the cause. The vet may want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. You can use an e-collar (cone) to help prevent your pet from licking the area, as allowing them to lick could lead to infection. i hope this helps!

That looks more like an infection either from a bite wound, a puncture wound, a foreign body stuck under the skin or perhaps a very deep fungal infection. I recommend to have Baloo see his veterinarian today. The doctor may be able to tell what the cause is by palpation and perhaps aspiration of some fluid. Then appropriate treatment will be given.
