Can my cat sense my pregnancy or a baby, especially with the pillow?

When a women becomes pregnant, her body chemistry changes and this in turn can cause a distinct odor. Dogs have an excellent sense of smell, and they may be able to pick up on this odor. Hi there. Luna is probably preparing for motherhood. All sorts of hormonal changes are going on in her body at this time, and can cause her to behave differently. Pregnancy can also be very uncomfortable, as you've said. The best thing you can do is pet her and reassure her you are still there and her friend. Congrats on your kittens!

There is a lot of extra fluid in the abdomen due to the amniotic fluid, and that in combination with the kittens will put a lot of pressure on the abdominal wall. A lot of the extra space is taken up and the skin over the belly is therefore much tighter.

Hello. It does sound like your cat is pregnant. Female cats often seem to become more affectionate & content when they are pregnant. The hair loss may be related to normal shedding, but often in pregnancy, some hair loss will occur. I would switch her food from a maintenance or adult cat food to a kitten food. Feed her the kitten food for the rest of her pregnancy & while she nurses the kittens. Once the kittens start to wean onto solid food ( at about 3-4 weeks of age ) you can slowly transition her back to her regular adult cat food. Hi, it is difficult to tell for sure but normally when they are rubbing they release some pheromones and this is could be encouraged if you have any unfamiliar smells that perhaps you can't detect. For example if you have have been around other pets or people. One of my cats got crazy after I had my newborn, she would rub non stop and she also marked my leg when I was holding him ! I am not 100% sure why she would want to stay close to your head, perhaps a sense of security ? Are there any chances that Luna could be pregnant ?
