My cat is scared, heart racing. Did he eat drugs or was he hurt?

I would have Sassy seen by a vet immediately. Mkat is mephedrone, which causes overstimulation of the heart, circulation, and nervous system. Ingesting this drug could have extremely serious effects on her, please take her into a vet ASAP.

He may be having vision problems, high blood pressure or might have had a seizure. If his pupils are wide open, please take him to an out of hours or emergency veterinarian now. He may have high blood pressure and fast intervention can reverse any blindness caused by this. If his pupils are normal and react normally, take him to a vet tomorrow for an exam.

Animals can show signs of toxicity after ingesting 1.5 mg per kilogram of body weight and Hunter may have ingested over 7 mg per kg. I would be concerned about the potential for serotonin syndrome secondary to this medication. It could cause agitation, high heart rate or blood pressure, muscle tremors or seizures. I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian to discuss treatment. Attempting to induce vomiting might be recommended if he ate the pill recently, but it can be difficult to get cats to vomit. Otherwise the recommended treatment would probably be IV fluids and monitoring in the hospital.

If he ingested it last Wednesday is not showing any symptoms I would not be worried. Lisinopril can be given to cats. Of course I don't know what dose he ate but you would have seen side effects by now if it was going to be a problem. Pioglitazone is not used widely in cats but there is a study that shows it can be given to cats and was effective to increase insulin sensitivity. They didn't show any side effects at the dose given. Whether he ate your dose and it was a toxic level, I don't know. Phentermine and Lamotrigine would be toxic to a cat - you would have seen symptoms by now. Cats rarely will eat any medications on their own. I would definitely find it hard to believe a cat would eat 4 medications. So, I doubt he ingested them. Just be careful to keep them out of his reach as some of them could be deadly.

It doesn’t say what the medication was. Luckily Rio didn’t eat much of it. I certainly would monitor him closely for the next twelve hours and if you are seeing any behavioral changes, vomiting or diarrhea then please take him right in for treatment. Jute could certainly be frightened, but given that there may have been a fight I would be more worried about an injury that is either causing pain (and his avoidance of you) or even something serious enough to cause shock. I'm not sure from your description when this fight occurred, I would watch him very carefully and take him into the veterinarian today if he isn't responding to you more normally in the next hour to two. From the picture I wouldn't say that the gums look abnormal, but if in your assessment (based on what is normal for him) if they seem paler than normal, this warrants close observation and escalation to get him care if he doesn't normalize soon.

The veterinarian will examine him and look for any wounds. If there are none, laboratory work may be discussed. He may also be given fluids if he is dehydrated and pain medications to help him feel better. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to cats.
