Is it normal for my cat's lips to be red after having kittens?

This could be the beginning of a condition also known as "rodent ulcer", it's basically an autoimmune reaction and it is not surprising if it starts to occur around pregnancy time. at the moment as long as it doesn't bother her and it doesn't become much larger, i would recommend just monitoring it, as treatment for this condition usually involve steroids which you can't give to a lactating mother.

Possible causes are: allergies, trauma from excessive grooming (rodent ulcer), allergic reaction, or from licking a caustic toxic substance. Without seeing a picture or examining Sage it is hard to tell you much more. Since cats can not tolerate human medications it is best to have Sage examined by a Vet today so she can be treated. Yes that could be commonly due either to an allergic reaction or to a localized infection (usually bacterial). I would recommend a check up and some medications to resolve those little sores (steroids and antibiotics). Buster collar would be useful to avoid scratching (if any). I am sorry to hear that! I do think going to the vet would be a good idea. Cats can get many types of lumps at their mouths. From your description one thing I would want to rule out is eosinophilic plaques. These can be caused by allergies so getting on a low allergen food (I would recommend prescription due to cross-contamination at the manufacturing level) and medications can be vital! Of course it is hard to tell without looking at her so your vet may want to rule tests or take a biopsy first! I hope this helps!

A certain amount of bloody discharge is normal after delivery. This can last days to weeks. If it is frank blood, Diamond should be examined by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER today. Check the color of her gums. They should be pink. If they appear pale, take her to the veterinarian immediately. Keep her warm and as stress free as possible until she sees the vet.

I’m glad to hear the Binx is doing well aside from this redness. I agree - I don’t see any evidence of swelling or discrete lesions. That said, this type of redness is more likely either irritation from food and water bowls, or some underlying allergies, particularly given his young age. Plastic and ceramic bowls are fairly porous and can harbor bacteria. If you aren’t already doing so, try using stainless steel or glass bowls, taking care to wash them daily. If the redness persists, your next option is to take Binx to his vet for an exam. Your vet may need to prescribe some medication to help get this redness under control. Given the location, I wouldn’t recommend trying any topical medication, as I wouldn’t want Binx to ingest any of it. I hope that everything goes well!
