Why is my cat pooping blood? Do I need to see a vet immediately?

In the meantime, you can purchase wormer for kittens at Petco. The package will have very good directions on how to use the wormer. Take care.

Thanks for adopting Eli. Blood in the stool without constipation is often due to intestinal parasites. Please take a sample to your veterinarian and they will look under the microscope for parasite eggs. If they find some they will prescribe the correct dewormer for Eli. If there are no parasites and this continues Eli should go in for an exam. He could have an anal infection, rectal polyp or intestinal inflammation causing the blood. Cats do have blood in the stool more often than other animals so if he's normal and this only happens once in a while I would just keep an eye on him, and bring him in if it is a constant issue. If Luna has lost his appetite and is showing signs of blood in the stool, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. This could be due to severe irritation in the colon from diarrhea or there could be something more going on such as a foreign body obstruction. The sooner he is seen the better. Blood in the feces can be caused by many different things including diarrhea (can be caused by eating something silly, worms, toxins), can also be caused by rat bait toxin, clotting factor problems, or an abscess. If there is blood dripping from the bum, then I would recommend having Krookie seen by a vet as soon as possible, as some of these conditions can be fatal if not treated right away. Likely it will be something that can be fixed with some medications, however best to get it checked right away. Best of luck with Krookie.

Given that Minx is a young male cat and having abnormal urinations and likely blood in his urine, I suspect that he may be suffering from Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), or inflammation in the lower urinary tract. This is causing him difficulty urinating, and painful urination. I recommend having him seen by a veterinarian right away, before he becomes fully "blocked", meaning unable to pass any urine at all. This is a life-threatening emergency, and requires rapid veterinary attention. Your veterinarian will perform a physical exam and likely recommend bloodwork to evaluate the severity of his urinary tract disease. FIC is a treatable condition, but again, if he becomes unable to pass any urine at all, he can experience acute kidney failure and develop fatal heart rhythms. I hope this is helpful!
