My cat is in pain, growling, and not eating. Should I put her down?
Poor Pinga! I'm sorry to hear that she's having this problem. Without knowing what's wrong, I'm afraid it's hard to say whether she will need to be put down or not - but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet, since it sounds like the only treatment that has been tried is an antibiotic. I'm wondering if there's a reason she wasn't given any kind of pain medication or anti-inflammatory, given that she obviously seems painful?
If she isn't improving, I would definitely recommend taking her back to your veterinarian for a recheck, or getting a second opinion from another vet in your area. It sounds like x-rays would be a logical next step to get a better look at her spine, and she might also benefit from a steroid and/or other type of pain medication such as buprenorphine or gabapentin, even if no definitive diagnosis can be made. You can discuss these options with your veterinarian when you take her back in to be seen.
