My cat seems fine but I don't see poop or pee in her litter box.

Hello. I hesitate to recommend anything just yet since you say she seems to be fine. If she was unable to urinate, she would be crying, painful, trying to posture & strain to urinate in the litter box. Unfortunately, it may be possible that she is urinating elsewhere, perhaps in the back of a closet or on a pile of laundry. I assume she is also an indoor only cat. Just watch her for now, & if there are any indications that she is having difficulties in the litter box, or she seems to be licking her vaginal area excessively, try to push fluids to her by adding a little extra water to her canned food ( remove the dry for now ) & encouraging her to drink by offering low sodium broths or stock along with very fresh water. Hello, thank you for your question about Atticus. The symptoms that you are describing could be indicative of two possibilities - constipation or urinary obstruction. Urinary obstruction is much more common in male cats due to their anatomy; however, if Atticus had an underlying condition such as bladder stones, she could experience an obstruction. Constipation is a not uncommon condition in cats. It can have many different underlying causes. Since Atticus is otherwise acting normally I would recommend continuing to monitor her for the next 12-24 hours. If she continues to go in/out of the box and does not produce any urine/feces or she develops any other symptoms (lethargy, vomiting, inappetance) I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian. If she recently had kittens, her nipples may feel more plump than they typically would, since she may have residual milk in there that needs to resorb or they may still be swollen from being recently suckled on by her kittens. If she truly has not urinated in 24 hours, I would be concerned. I would check around your house for any spots, as she may have urinated outside of the litter box, since this is a new home for her. Stress can slow cat's GI tracts, so she may not defecate for a few days. As long as she is acting normally and has a good appetite and is drinking water, I would continue to monitor her at home. If she ever becomes excessively lethargic, or loses her appetite, or vomits or has diarrhea, I would have her evaluated by your veterinarian. You could try confining her to a smaller area for a day or so to make sure she is urinating. I hope this is helpful!

It is not uncommon when pets have not been eating or drinking well to have more extended time between visits to the box. It your kitty was a bit dehydrated from being sick this will also mean less urine in the box too. As it seems that your kitty is feeling better with the care your vet provided i would give it a little time. If he or she is eating then things should normalize. If he or she starts to feel sick again then dehydration may make things worse, and a recheck with your vet is then advised. I would recommend having her evaluated by her veterinarian. If you note however that she is not eating, develops vomiting or lethargy then she should be evaluated sooner. I suspect Coco has found a nice spot outdoors to defecate. If given a choice on where to go, cats will usually poop outside instead of in the litter box. However, if you have any concerns, especially if her appetite is decreased or she is having any vomiting or lethargy then I would encourage you to consider taking her to the veterinarian. Simba may be going in the other cat's litter tray, and I would try to see if you can follow him around to see if you can catch him pooping in the other tray. Kittens do not necessarily poop right after a meal, and it could be he is pooping at night in the other tray while you are sleeping. Given that he is acting normal, I wouldn't be to concerned. If he wasn't pooping at all, you would see other signs lack of appetite, potentially vomiting, straining to poop, and lethargy. Should you see any of those signs, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
