Why is my cat's nose irritated after travel? Is it rubbing or mange?

However, it would be worth the check Kitty's skin for bacterial infection or ringworm as the skin should not peel off like this. Please, take Kitty back to your vet as he will likely need antibiotic / anti-fungal ointment. Your vet will probably want to examine the skin scrapes under the microscope or take a skin swab to confirm the diagnosis first.

It does not look like self-inflicted trauma unless you witness Pepsi scratching the face excessively or rubbing against walls / carpets. Please, take Pepsi to your local vets for an appointment. I still think that a focal infection or traumatic lesion is more likely. You can use a topical medication like Douxo 3% PS pads which you may find online. You can apply this to the affected area twice daily for 2 weeks. If this does not resolve or appears to be progressing, have Lovey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It's possible it could be a bit irritated due to the weather change or rubbing up against something. It's hard to tell from the photos if that is discharge/debris in the nostril, but if you are seeing any discharge, sneezing, coughing, etc it could indicate a respiratory infection as well that should be seen by your vet. Otherwise, monitoring it for any changes and keeping your cat from pawing at or scratching at it may help it to heal.

It is definitely possible that she cut herself on something. It almost appears that she may have a rub sore on her nose from rubbing her nose against something. It does not look infected so I would keep an eye on this and if it worsens, take Masha in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made.
