My cat's nose is bleeding and looks gnawed. Should I go to the vet?

Ideally, the kitten should be physically examined by a veterinarian to diagnose any other injuries. If it is a minor bleed, it should stop with some gentle pressure. If there is internal injury, that can be addressed by the veterinarian after the exam. Monitor for lethargy, ataxia (wobbly gait), difficulty breathing, pale gums, uneven pupils or bleeding from the ears or anywhere else.

Since this has bene going on for a while, I would get it checked by your vet as soon as possible. It could be a cold, he could have sneezed some particle of foreign material up into his nasal cavity, he could have a polyp in his nose, there's no way to know for sure without an exam with your vet. The greenish tinge to the discharge may mean he already has an infection going on. Your vet will do an exam, possibly lab work and/or x-rays to determine what's going on and based on these results will be better able to tell you what's wrong and give you treatment options.

There are a couple of reasons why your nose is bleeding including a respiratory infection, trauma, foreign body, or toxin exposure such as rat poison. As for your mouth, it could be that there was some trauma to that area, and you may be licking it preventing it from healing. Because it's not normal to have a bloody nose and the fact that it is painful for you, I would speak to your human about taking you into a vet today or first thing in the morning. I'm sure you don't like seeing the vet, but the vet will be able to help you with your bloody nose so it feels better. I hope this helps!

This looks very sore! In some cats a viral infection such as herpes can be involved, so ampling and testing the area can be very helpful as antviral drugs can be very effective. An Ecollar in the meantime will prevent her from clawing at the area and doing further damage, you could apply manuka hney to the area but I would not recommend using any medicated ointments etc as she will lick and swallow them!

A check up, appropriate disinfection and eventually antibiotics are ideally needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. I would recommend that you have your cat examined by a vet. These are not good problems to have, and could be caused by a number of things including stomatitis, FIV, oral or nasal cancer, bacterial or fungal infection, among others. The vet will do a thorough exam, and may need to run blood work and maybe x-rays to determine the cause.
