Why do my cat's red neck marks still feel bumpy even after healing?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Unfortunately it is very hard to see exactly what is going on with the pictures you have posted. It does however look like there are little blood clots present, which suggests small little wounds or scratches present underneath. Possible causes of scratches/wounds on the skin would be fleas, fights with other cats/animals, mange and self-trauma scratching, tick bite craters, etc. I recommend you give her a bath and get it all cleaned up, and see if more are appearing or if they are healing up after a few days. They don't look infected so medications for the wounds themselves are likely not required. I would treat for fleas/mange if you are not already. Best of luck with Freckie!

Skin lesions like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), allergies, or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, so he could start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that he may need. In the meantime, I would clean the area will diluted betadine if possible and then keep it dry, and trim his nails back as much as possible to keep him from scratching at it. Good luck!

It actually looks like Lulu’s wound is healing very nicely. The redness will continue to resolve slowly over the next few days. I would recommend continuing the ointment your vet prescribed until the area is completely cleared and appears pink, instead of red. Another scab may form and this is fine. Just continue to keep the area clean, dry and medicated. It looks as if it will be completely healed in about another week. I hope this helps. Hello there, Thanks for the good photo. If it is a small minor wound like a pimple or scratch, it should be mostly healed within a week of forming. If its been present for longer than that or is worsening, I would be more concerned that it is the start of an infection or growth that would benefit from being seen by her veterinarian. A scab means it's healing, so I would just keep an eye on it for now. If you see signs of infection, it gets bigger, it starts to bother her, or it doesn't appear to be healing, then have Fatina seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

My concern is that it could also get infected. Try to keep the area as clean as possible and try to prevent her from scratching at it. Judging from the picture, this could be a ruptured abscess or secondary to self trauma from him scratching at the area. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. He will need the hair clipped from around the wound and the wound cleaned.
