My 2-year-old cat mates but isn't pregnant. Is she likely barren?

If you are certain that Bella went into heat either one of them could have fertility issues. You should have them both examined by your veterinarian to make sure that they are in good overall health, and your vet might suggest some other tests to run. Uterine abnormalities, semen abnormalities, infections or even poor nutrition can play a role. If you did not actually see them breed it is possible that Bolt has a penile or testicular problem causing low testosterone. It’s also possible that although he is likely sexually mature that he is just not interested yet.

Some cats will have a silent heat but that is not really common. I would not be worried but if you are planning on breeding her then you should get her to a vet for a breeding soundness exam. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Personally I think she is getting very close to being too old. I would have an exam and bloodwork done by your Vet. If everything comes back fine then you can try. I wouldn’t breed her 10 or older and would spay her as soon as you are done. I hope this helps!
