Why is my cat isolating, sleeping, not eating, and has a dry nose?

Being so young, he can dehydrated easily if he does not eat and drink properly. He may be experiencing an upper respiratory tract infection. See if he has any eye or nose discharge as well as any sneezing. Gastrointestinal infections can cause him to not feel well and are usually accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. Finally, if he sustained an injury he could have the symptoms you reported as well. His veterinarian will be able to differentiate between these causes. I hope this information helps!

I'm sorry Blue isn't doing well at the moment! I wouldn't worry about his nose going from wet and cold to warm and dry. This isn't a sign of illness in cats, as their nose can change like this just by lying next to a heat source or in the sun. It could be he's simply not feeling well, but I wouldn't rush him into a vet just yet. Try to tempt him to eat by offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), or by offering him some gently warmed canned food. Poor guy. I would highly recommend taking him in to your vet for some bloodwork analysis. A cat that isn't eating is considered to be a serious thing, because cats are known to be masters at hiding illness, unless it is something serious going on. Drooling is a sign of nausea, which can be caused by just about every condition out there, so it is necessary to get some testing down to hopefully pinpoint the problem. I am not sure how deep the scrape on his nose is, but I would not consider it to be a factor in his current illness, especially if it is just a superficial wound that is not infected. If you cannot get him in right away you can try enticing him with some tuna and white rice or slightly warmed cans of baby food for now. But a vet visit is needed as soon as possible. I am sorry you are worried! The behavior you are describing does sound like he doesn't feel well- (sorry it says both Sampson and Lilly so I am not sure which cat you are referring to). Unfortunately it is a subtle, vague behavior that can be linked to many things (good thing you picked up on it!). Since he was around a cat with a respiratory infection that would be my first concern- he may be trying to fight it off, or possibly having early signs of it. Since he isn't using the box much I would be worried he might becoming dehydrated or have a fever- which both could be secondary to an upper respiratory virus or secondary infection. Unfortunately there could be a number of diseases that are causing these symptoms you're describing. Like you, I suspect that this is not depression, as this is really a rare occurrence in our pet animals. Tux could be suffering from a heart or lung condition that is making it difficult for him to breathe, or he could be in pain and that is keeping him from wanting to move. He is going to need to visit his vet urgently. A thorough physical exam will likely help to start to get to the heart of the matter, and then he will likely need some diagnostic testing, including blood work and xrays. Don't delay, he needs to be seen and get a diagnosis and treatment plan.

These are general signs of disease, unfortunately almost any disease can manifest itself with those symptoms and for this reason I won't be able to give you an idea of what could be causing this. I would recommend taking Tonyt to the vet ASAP for a physical examination, if nothing obvious is found he will probably need a blood test or an ultrasound and the vet will then treat him according to the results.
