My cat has an infected wound and is hiding, what should I do now?

I would give her a few hours to see if she'll eventually come out on her own to inspect her for injuries. You can try enticing her out with cat food or even some chicken warmed up so it's really smelly, and then inspect her as she's focused on eating. If she won't come out/eat at all, seems severely injured or in distress, or you suspect wounds, it is best to seek veterinary care ASAP especially since wild animals can transmit diseases.

Even though a close examination is usually needed for confirmation, I would highly suspect that these will require sutures to be able to close them. I highly recommend that you have Clyde evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. When cats get into fights, typically the wounds become infected, and that's what it sounds like is happening to Rex. He has to see a vet for this immediately, as it will be very painful for him. He will need the wound cleaned, and he will need antibiotics to treat the infection. I would let your dad know that medical treatment is needed right away for Rex. Please bring him into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see him now.

That looks like a pretty bad wound that needs to be seen by your vet. Wounds on cats can easily get abscessed (infected) and if Nani is also weak and not eating I would be concerned he is very ill or in a lot of pain. Your vet can clip and clean the area, stitch up or drain any wounds/swelling, and provide you with pain medications and antibiotics to help with recovery.

The wound doesn't look infected or Bloody more like a scrape that has removed hair. I would simply keep him warm and comfortable until you get to the vets. Try and feed little and often as they can over indulge when they gave been away a while.

Poor kitty! It sounds like he has a badly infected wound. The smelly discharge is a sign of a severe bacterial infection, so I'm afraid that he really needs antibiotics to treat the problem. You could try and catch him to take him to the vet if you want to, or call your local animal control officer to see if they could trap him and make sure that he gets the care he needs.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Stormy! I would shave the fur away from the wound then clean it well with water and a mild soap (avoid hydrogen peroxide). Then apply triple antibiotic ointment twice daily. The most important thing is to have Stormy wear and E-collar to prevent licking and keep him indoors. He should see a Vet as soon as possible to at a minimum get antibiotics but to also see if surgery is required to close the wound. I would call your local SPCA to see if they offer a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish Stormy a speedy recovery!
