Can I give my cat human melatonin to help them sleep better?

I would suggest using benadryl or Dramamine rather then melatonin for your cats if they do not travel well. https://www.petcoach.co/article/6-human-medications-that-are-sometimes-safe-for-sick-pets/

Hello. There is nothing you might have at home that could safely make Pink sleepy. If she is keeping you up at night, you may need to really engage in some serious play time in the evening. You do not indicate how old she is, but if she is still quite young, she will learn to calm down a bit at night. If there is any other reason for needing Pink to go to sleep, please speak with your vet for more appropriate treatments & remedies. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hello. What you're describing is not uncommon among older cats. It could indicate the type of cognitive dysfunction, vision issues, or even other neurological issues. The dose for alprazolam and other sedatives can range very greatly as well as depend on underlying conditions your cat may have. Generally speaking animals have a higher metabolic rate the smaller they are so smaller animals often require higher dosages of certain medications the bigger animals such as us. Unfortunately we are not legally allowed to approve dosages for any medications we did not prescribe as your veterinarian. However if you contact your veterinarian they may be able to give you verbal authorization for a dose.

Try a pheromone product, such as Feliway spray or plug in diffusers, to decrease any anxiety associated with the new pup. If possible, increase playtime and activity just before bedtime. Have him examined by your veterinarian to diagnose any underlying medical conditions. Discuss melatonin use with your veterinarian.

Melatonin has been reported to stimulate hair growth in dogs, ferrets and mink. There are no reports of similar results in cats. While melatonin has been reported to increase platelet counts in dogs, there are no reports of increased white blood cells or reactivation of blood cancers. There is no transdermal formulation for melatonin although there is an implant for sustained release. One thought is if the hair loss is occurring at the same site as the prednisilone transdermal patch, you could consider an oral formulation of the steroid.

If the sudden behavioral change is recent, have Ricochet examined by your veterinarian to rule out injury or illness. Frequently, either can be the cause of such changes. If he has been an outdoor cat, consider letting him out earlier in the evening or day. Melatonin may help regulate his sleep patterns at night. You can discuss use with your veterinarian. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/cat/melatonin/

You can use it safety wise but it will not have any effect on your puppy. just like babies, puppies wake up a lot at night and it is absolutely normal, you should nit give him anything to make him sleep at his age.
