My cat only took half dewormer. Is it effective and will she be okay?

Sometimes the worms die and just come out like mucus in the stool, not full worms. If you gave the proper dose I’m sure it was effective. There is a slight risk that the dewormer was contaminated. Monitor for signs of vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite. If she displays any of these then a trip to the veterinarian for treatment is recommended. Typically though the main issue is the medicine just isn't effective anymore and you can follow-up with a non-expired dewormer after waiting 24 hrs to make sure she has none of the signs mentioned above. However, she should be ok with conservative treatment through your vet even if she does have an upset stomach.

Arya will have to eat the full dose in order to kill the tapeworms. Tapeworms can be a little more difficult to detect than other types of parasites unless you actually see them in the stool or around the rectum. You will need to repeat the medication and make sure that it is labeled for the Dipylidium species since it’s the most common in cats. You may also call your veterinarian as they will carry medications to kill that particular species. Most of the time cats will be dewormed once and then repeated 2 to 4 weeks later to make sure there are no parasites left. You may consider having her stool checked for the eggs but this may not always reveal an infestation. I hope this helps.

That means the medication is working, as you can frequently see dead worms after a treatment. Godive will need another deworming treatment in two weeks to kill all the worms, and I would give her another dose then.

I would probably recommend waiting 3-7 days and give her a full dose instead, don't try mixing it with water as it becomes very bad to the taste this way, either mix it with food without breaking it or give it manually until swallowed.

This is not uncommon to see. The dewormer works by paralyzing the worms and they are sometimes only partially affected by the drug. The fact that they are coming out shows that it's working to a certain degree; and the worms will likely die soon. No need to worry. Keep up with the deworming schedule as prescribed by your vet and she should be rid of them soon.

She will be fine. Dewormer has a really wide safety margin so double dosing does not cause any major issues for pets. At the most she may have a little upset stomach, but I don't even expect that to occur.
