I am attaching a handout below with more information about gas in dogs and cats that will have more information for you.

I see from your information that Bella is a kitten. I would recommend avoiding giving her milk if you are doing that because that is a common cause of gas in kittens. If you are feeding dry food only and she eats quickly, you could consider changing to or adding some canned food to her diet. You can also consider changing brands of food. If you do any food changes, make sure to change slowly to prevent any GI upset such as loose stool. And finally, make sure that your veterinarian has checked a stool sample on Bella to make sure that everything is normal.
Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.

My cat has stinky gas and soft stool. How can I fix her digestion?

It's possible there could be something underlying such as a food allergy (protein sources can cause allergies in some pets!), or even something such as parasites or an infection causing excess gas. It would be a good idea to bring in a fecal sample to your vet to check for the most common causes of GI upset, and if nothing is found consider a food trial with your vet to rule out any possible food allergies that could be contributing.

Why is my new rescue cat gassy? Is it her food, diet, or health?

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and congratulations on your new addition! Slinky is adorable! Gas is common with diet changes, which take up to several weeks to adjust to. I recommend keeping Slinky's diet stable, limiting treats and human food for at least two weeks to allow her to fully adjust. I also recommend ensuring that Slinky is negative for intestinal parasites by having her stool evaluated for them by a veterinarian. I hope all is well!

My cat has gas. Should I feed only wet food and no dry food?

Extra gas can be caused by a sensitivity or allergy to the diet (most commonly to the protein source), not necessarily to the wet or dry formulation. Consider trying to feed Callie strictly one diet for the next month or two to see if it changes her flatulence. If that does not help, try a different diet for another month or two. It can take at least 6-8 weeks to determine if a diet change has made any impact on Callie. Any time you make a change in diet, be sure to do so gradually by mixing the old and new foods together over 5-7 days.

Why is my cat lethargic, gassy, and has bad breath? Is it food?

Hello. Your kitty may be suffering from some type of food allergy. You can switch her to a sensitive stomach type of cat food ( Hill's Science Diet has a good one ), or you can talk to your vet about a Prescription Diet. I would also start using a good probiotic like Forti-Flora. You feed I little packet once a day for a month & see if things improve. Of course, if she is not feeling well, you must consider having her seen by your veterinarian to make sure there is not something seriously wrong with her digestive tract. Hopefully, she will start feeling better soon. Take care.

Why does my new 3-month-old kitten have bad gas and stinky poop?

Congratulations on your new kitten Cheez-it! I recommend to have him see the veterinarian who will check him for parasites and may recommend a medication. I would then recommend to try a different diet. I like Royal Canin as it is easy to break down and can often help with pets who are prone to gas and GI upset. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Why is my cat farting so much after changing to a new cat food?

The most common cause of flatulence in a pet is dietary intolerance. It looks like the food you chose just doesn't fit well with her intestinal flora! If flatulence is the only change, and it is something you can tolerate, you do not necessarily need to change her food. But most people would decide to try out another food instead of having a stinky cat!

My new mom cat is gassy with soft stool after kittens, what to do?

Well, this is not terribly uncommon. If you are raising mom and babies correctly, you probably switched Diamond over to kitten food while she is nursing her young. This is often the cause of gaseousness and / or liquefied appearance of feces. With time, some cats more than others, the feces tends to refirm and the amount of gas returns to normal. You can try adding a product like Fortiflora to the food. This encourages healthy and quick probiotic growth in the gut. There is a canine and a feline version so be sure to grab the correct product. Hope this makes sense.
