Why does my cat with FHV shake his paws like they're asleep when he gets up?

It is very difficult to say without seeing what she is doing myself. I suggest you video her doing the behavior and then show your vet at her next exam. If she seems normal in every other way I'm not sure I'd be too worried about it especially if it is only when she stretches.

You really need to get a video of him doing the behavior and then take it to your vet's office and show them. After they see it they can give you more of an idea of what may be going on. It could be dreaming but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Shaking is a general sign and can be seen with several things that go from just being cold or nervous to being an indication of pain or discomfort. If he is otherwise fine, then it would be ok to monitor him for now. However, if at any point he appears to be in discomfort or stops eating or showing any other concerning symptoms, it may be best to have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. Milo could have acted this way for a number of reasons including: - bite or sting on one of the back paws - litter or tape stuck on the paws -back or leg pain -neurological problem If he seems normal now, I would just monitor for another episode. It does not sound normal for him to be holding his foot in such a way but every dog is different. You did not mention he was limping at all so I assume that he is not showing any signs of lameness? If he is in pain, he may be showing this by holding his paw up. This pain could be from a soft tissue injury or growth problem in that particular leg. If it continues and does not resolve, I would get your veterinarian to check the leg out during an examination to rule some possible diagnoses out and to determine if it is nothing to worry about. Hello, congratulations on you new puppy. Its likely he was just having itchiness and there by scratching. After scratching, some dogs will shake their paws normally and you should not worry about it. If Chico has more severe or persistent trembling/shaking then have him seen sooner. Hope this helps and best of luck.

First off, I love your cat's name! I'm a big Harry Potter fan. As Ronald is stretching out, his muscles are reacting to the stretch, and this is something you see commonly in cats. If he's only shaking them as he stretches, it's not something to have any concerns about :-)
