My cat is depressed, not eating, biting, shivering, and meowing. Help!

I'm so sorry to hear that Beow isn't feeling well. It is very concerning when a cat doesn't eat for more than 24 hours. I would recommend having Beow examined by a veterinarian right away. They may be able to tell you what is going on based on an examination, but more likely may need to do some blood work. Unfortunately, cats tend to become sicker the longer they do not eat and do not tend to improve without treatment, so I would recommend having him treated as soon as possible. Good luck! When pets have seizures, they are unable to respond to normal stimuli like calling their name. The shivering is still concerning because cats should not shiver. He could be sick and I recommend to have him examined today to play it safe. I hope this helps.

Vomiting and increased vocalizations can sometimes indicate pain or distress. This could be due to GI upset, underlying illness, etc. If the symptoms continue, worsen, or you see additional issues such as increased vomiting, attempting to urinate or defecate but can't, loss of appetite, etc, then it would be best to seek veterinary care ASAP to find the underlying issue.

All of those signs are very concerning that something more serious is going on. If Theo hasn't eaten at all in two days and can't keep anything down, it is best to seek care from your vet or another vet ASAP as this can indicate more severe illness or underlying issue. More thorough workup such as bloodwork or X-rays are also a good idea to try and find the cause such as an infection, virus, obstruction, etc that could be causing the underlying issue.

It sounds like he should be examined by a vet to rule out a medical problem. He could have an infection, parasite, metabolic, and/or endocrine disease and your vet can run blood work to help diagnose and the determine if treatment is needed. Hope he feels better soon!

Hi, and thanks for your question. This is a quite generic but concerning presentation. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence lasts for more than 8hours. ANy abrupt change in behavior is a good reason to have your cat checked by your vet. Your vet and their staff are trained to gently but effectively restrain and treat your pet without undue stress. If he has something wrong with his ears, the condition could worsen and cause further complications if not seen to, such as ear mites, an infection, allergies causing itching, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will give him an exam, concentrating on his ears, if there is any debris in them they will sample that for examination under the microscope and, based on these results, will be better able to tell you what is wrong and what the best treatment is for your cat.
