My cat came home sick, can't walk or stand. What's wrong with her?

This is an emergency, as your cat could be suffering from a riding thrombus, which is a blood clot that keeps blood flowing from the aorta into the femoral arteries. This is a very painful and life threatening condition. She could also have been a victim of a traffic accident hurting her spinal cord. Please take her to a veterinarian or an emergency room right away. The vet will want to do radiographs and a blood test and your kitty will need treatment depending on the diagnosis today.

Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear Kitty was lost for a few days. That had to be very stressful. Also, I am sorry to hear she came back with a few medical issues. It is hard to say what exactly is going on with Kitty without examining Kitty first, but from your description it seems like Kitty may have injured her pelvis, spine, or rear limbs that may be causing her to not urinate properly or defecate as it may be painful for her or she has some neurological deficits disabling her to have control of her bladder. She could also have a urinary tract infection causing the straining to urinate as well. I would recommend visiting a veterinarian clinic soon so she can get some x-rays and a neurological exam in addition to a regular physical exam. Hi. It sounds like she is very sick. With these signs, she needs to go to the ER right away. It sounds as if she has a neurologic condition that is progressing. They will do an exam, labwotk and imaging and that will help.guide us to the possible diagnosis. Good.luck

I'm glad Panda returned home! Limping is a sign of pain in cats, and if she can't jump onto the sofa, then I suspect she may have an injury to her spine, hips, or back legs. Muscle wastage and weakness in her back legs is serious as well. I would take her into a vet immediately. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and a lameness exam to determine what is causing her symptoms, and how to treat them. She could have gotten hit by a car while missing, or attacked by another animal. Please take her into the vet now.

Kitty may have endured some trauma to her bones or ligaments or perhaps internal organ damage. If she is laying down more frequently and had or is current experiencing trouble walking, she is likely in some pain/discomfort and my best advice would be to take her to see a veterinarian as soon as possible for an exam, x-rays and/or blood work to get a definitive diagnosis. Oh no, poor Spunky! She could have suffering trauma to her hips or spine causing her to be unable to stand up, or she could have a degenerative disease causing these symptoms. It is serious she can't stand, and she does need to see a vet for it. I would have her seen by a vet in the morning as it's good that she is eating and drinking. Rest her tonight, and keep her confined in a small room so she doesn't move around as much. In the morning, the vet can diagnose what is causing these problems and if there are treatment options for it.
