My cat has strange bumps above her nails. Could it be ringworm?

I would be concerned Opal has an infection, likely bacterial but ringworm (which humans can get) is possible too. I would recommend to take her into the vet for fungal testing. The infection is spreading so treatment is warranted. She will likely receive some medication to apply to the areas and potentially an antibiotic. I hope this helps!

This can be a sign of a fungal infection of the nail base. If the nails do not appear normal it could also be a sign of certain autoimmune nail diseases. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian - ringworm is one type of fungus that could cause an infection and the treatment is very different from a yeast fungal infection so your veterinarian may want to run some tests. If there are changes to the nail or paw pads your veterinarian may want to take a sample for biopsy to rule out immune diseases like pemphigus.

Thank you for including pictures of Bella's ear! It is certainly possible that it is ringworm, but she could also have an infection or an injury causing this redness. For now, I would leave it be and not touch it, and have her seen by a vet on Monday for it. The vet can use a Wood's lamp and do a fungal culture to diagnose if it is ringworm, and can prescribe treatment for it. I would keep Bella isolated from other animals in your home for now just in case she does have ringworm. Ringworm is highly contagious to other animals and humans, and I would wash your hands thoroughly after each time you touch her. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, so you need to make sure to practice good hygiene to try to keep from getting it yourself. It certainly is possible that Stiletto has ringworm. I would take her into the vet, who can use a Wood's lamp and fungal culture to diagnose if she does have ringworm. This is definitely suspicious of ringworm (a fungal infection of the skin). This could also be due to a yeast or bacteria infection, but I think it's much more likely to be ringworm.. It's best to take her back to the shelter for a vet exam soon, because ringworm can spread to different parts of the body and can spread to people.
