My cat is bloated, always hungry, and has blood. Is it serious?

Zoey sounds quite ill at the moment. In senior cats, there are three common illnesses that cause vomiting, increased eating, and weight loss: Hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and kidney disease. Cancer is another differential, and that could cause an enlarged belly due to tumor growth. Zoey should see a vet right away for his symptoms. I recommend having a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and x-rays done on him to diagnose what is causing his symptoms. Once a diagnosis is reached, the vet can discuss treatment with you. Please take him into a vet now.

These are very concerning symptoms, and could fit several serious issues, such as GI obstruction, internal bleeding, infection, cancer, etc. I would recommend having Lily examined by a vet. After physical examination, the vet may recommend diagnostics such as blood work or x-rays to determine the best possible treatment.

If his stomach seems significantly bloated it could be a sign of ascites or fluid in the abdomen. I think it would be best to see a vetas soon as you can and an emergency visit might be the best option. They may recommend blood work and x-rays after a physical exam.

Poor Ziggy! He looks like a very handsome kitty! Chronic vomiting is definitely a cause for concern, especially if an animal is not eating or having lower energy levels. It can be caused by foreign bodies, toxin ingestion, dietary indiscretion, or certain parasites. Hello. Is this a recent development? Is he having any difficulties breathing? If so, he needs to see a veterinarian immediately. Otherwise, the most common reason for bloating in a young cat is intestinal parasites, especially roundworms. You can purchase a general kitten wormer & deworm Astro yourself, or have him evaluated by your veterinarian at your earliest convenience to make sure he is receiving the proper treatment. If he seems to always be hungry and appears bloated then it would be worth making sure he is well up to date on wormer. The fortiflora should help also, and then if it continues to be an issue I would try him on a good for gastrointestinal/digestive issues and see if that helps. Failing that consult your vet in case he has a gut issue.
