My cat attacks his brother when he tries to cuddle me. What to do?

What cute kitties! I would discourage this behavior by removing the kitten each time this occurs and trying to distract him with something else- a fun toy or treat. Also giving him some time alone so he develops some independent from his sibling can be helpful. A feliway pheromone diffuser may also be helpful if the suckling is a nervous response. You can also put a little shirt/sweater on the kitten getting suckled to make it tougher for the suckler to get to him!

With persistence and consistency, he is likely going to improve overtime. And sometimes we do not even know we are doing anything wrong. I would keep him out of your room. If that is the territory he is claiming control over, prevent access. I would put a feliway diffuser in your room and right outside your room. I would limit the tight snuggling as most cats do not like that despite appearing to. I would only pet him when he comes to you. Only pet around his face and neck and as soon as he starts to flick his tail or turn his ears, stop. Give him treats during these brief petting sessions. After a few weeks to a month of non aggressive snuggling and petting if there are no aggressive tendencies open your room back up to him. It can take some time for cats and other pets to get along and sometimes they only tolerate each other. I would add some feliway diffusers throughout the house to help keep her calm. Feliway is a cat pheromones that helps to take off the edge. You can also get calming chews like vetriscience composure or the stronger prescription formula composure pro. If this doesn't work, I would talk to your vet about an anti-anxiety medicine for her. Finally, I would try to ask your brother not to rough house if possible while she is around. I hope this helps!

I hate to hear that about CC. Some cats are bullies and will bully certain humans or other cats. You have a few options. Your best option would be to work with a cat behaviorist. This individual will often come to your house and watch interactions and then teach you how to modify the behavior. Another option is to pick up a few books about cat behavior and start reading. This is not an uncommon issue and you can often find very helpful ways to modify the behavior and also learn how to read cat body language. Lastly, you can provide environmental enrichment in the form of tall climbing areas like a cat tree or mounted shelves. This helps many cats to satisfy a natural instinct. You can also try feeding a special prescription diet made by Royal Canin called Calm. It affects the serotonin levels in the brain. Make sure CC gets 30 minutes of vigorous exercise a day as this will help to make him more tired and less reactive. Your veterinarian may also be able to provide medication to help calm him more but this is unlikely to help by itself. Your cat was probably being very protective of you because he felt that you were being threatened. This can be a normal response for a pet that is very attached to a specific person. If he exhibits this behavior again you should remove Kitty from the situation to protect you and to teach him that his behavior is not acceptable. If Kitty starts showing more aggressive tendencies more frequentlt you may want to consult your vet for specific training advice and/or medication to help him calm down.
