My cat ate a grape and feels warm. Should I be concerned? Vet cost?

My cat ate a grape 12 hours ago and now she seems to have a fever and is really warm (paws, forehead, ears, nose) but she is playing normally. I tried to make her eat and drink but she keeps refusing. I also sprayed her with cold water but it didn't seem too effective. Should I be concerned? If I have to take her to the vet about how much would it cost and what should I do now?? Thank you!!!!

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Ariel. You can try taking Ariel's temperature at home to see if she actually has a fever. Normal temperature is higher than a human which may be why she feels warm, as a normal cat's temperature is 100 to 102.5. Though we don't know for certain, there are no reported cases of toxicity of grapes and raisins in cats, so it is possible they do not suffer from the same ill effects of dogs. To be safe, continue to monitor Ariel. If she shows decreased appetite/energy, increased or decreased thirst and urination, vomiting, or she does have a fever bring her in to the vet. We cannot give you prices as those will vary based on the vet you use but you can call their office for an estimate.

My cat has a 103 fever after vet stress. Should I worry?

A normal temperature in a cat will range between 100 and 102.5, so a temperature of 103 in a stressed kitty could potentially be a result of stress/excitement and not something we would normally be excessively concerned about. If your kitty seems to be normal at home then I would wait for news from your vet tomorrow and continue to monitor her and if she shows any changes in her behavior contact your vet earlier.

My cat has a 103.3 fever, low energy, and won't eat. Is it an emergency?

The temperature itself isn’t an emergency, but it is definitely a fever. If he goes outdoors I would start feeling all over for an abscess from a fight. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon, but as long as there are no other clinical signs such as difficulty breathing etc then I think having him seen by your veterinarian tomorrow is appropriate. My kitten's tummy feels hot, but she's acting normal. Is it okay?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Animals will often feel warm on certain parts of their body but that does not indicate there is a fever. If she was so warm to have a fever she would be acting sick (lethargic, not eating, not playing, etc). I personally would not be worried about this at all. Don't give her a cold bath. At this age kittens cannot thermoregulate well and you will give her a chill which will be the opposite problem (and worse in my opinion). My best recommendation is to monitor her for any signs of illness - if you notice any then take her to the vet for a check-up. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

It can be scary when there's a possibility your cat is sick! Lethargy is seen as a cat acting very tired, not wanting to move much, little interest in getting pet, sleeping a lot more than normal. Personally in my opinion, I always thinks it's best to be safe than sorry, and if you'd feel better taking her into the vet, that's absolutely fine! You may rest easier knowing everything is ok with her, and if she does seem a little tired, a vet visit may be a good idea. Otherwise, keep watch on her for the signs mentioned by the expert in your previous question. I hope this helps!

My cat has 104 fever after vet visit. Should I wait or go to ER?

I answered your previous question about Ari, and I'm sorry to read that his temperature is still high. Given that it's 104F, yes I would take him into a vet now. That's quite high, and I do think having him seen by a vet now is best. I do recommend taking him into UC Davis with this temperature. Good luck!
