How to help a cold, weak kitten found outside? Immediate care tips?

I am very sorry to hear about your kitten. From your description it sounds like it could be very anemic (low red blood cells) and it may actually be agonal/dying if it is crying out every few minutes while otherwise being weak. This kitten needs veterinary care and will not survive at home. I would recommend relinquishing the kitten to a veterinarian or rescue/shelter/humane society if you cannot care for it as there is nothing at home you will be able to do if this kitten is as ill as you describe. You can also consult this website for ideas on affording veterinary care: https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/having-trouble-affording-veterinary-care . In the meantime keep the kitten warm and you can try rubbing karo syrup or honey on his gums in case his blood sugar is very low.

I am sorry but the photos did not attach to your questions. i would recommend taking the mom and kitten to the vet. That way the vet can listen to the kittens lungs and possibly get it started on antibiotics or any medications it needs. It is very important the kitten does not get dehydrated. If it is a young kitten it needs to be with mom to nurse. You can provide a litter box, food and water with a warm and clean place to stay until you can make it to the vet. hope this helps

You need to keep her warm inside your home 27/7, a carton box with fleece or other warm cloths would be a good option, you can also use warm bottles under the cloths. it's important to feed her kitten milk replacer only, normal milk is not good enough for kittens, she can't survive on it. you can buy kitten milk replacer in any pet shop.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Storm. Applying some Karo syrup or honey to her gums and tongue will provide some rapid glucose for her body to burn. You should try to force feed her with a good kitten milk replacer via bottle or syringe but if she is weak she might not nurse. Your best bet would be to get her to a vet immediately so they can evaluate her and then treat her accordingly while trying to figure out what is going on. Make sure she is nice and warm since small kittens cannot regulate their body temperature. Their normal temp should be around 99 degrees to 102 degrees farenheit. Not sure how old she is but you need to be stimulating her genital area also to get her to eliminate. Again these little guys can get sick very quickly and it's important you get her help as soon as you can. Good luck with her. I would also advise deworming her unless that was already done. Deworming should be done every 3 weeks after 2 weeks of age for at least 3-4 times.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things. She should be bottle fed every 3 hours or so. Keep her nice and warm, environmental temperature should be around 80 if she isn’t snuggling with mom or with the other kittens. I would try to encourage her to nurse first, and then offer the bottle. Weigh her on a gram scale daily to make sure she is gaining weight daily. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

Poor little thing! Thank you for trying to help her. It sounds like Candy Cane has many issues going on. I strongly suggest you take her to see a veterinarian as many of the issues you describe sound life threatening. I would take her to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. You can try offering her canned food, keeping her warm or even offering some KMR kitten formula but her condition sounds critical. Unfortunately there is not much more you can do at home without seeing a veterinarian first.

What an adorable little kitten! His eyes are open, so he's at least 3 weeks of age, but without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain his age. I would go out to a grocery store now to get him some KMR, which is a kitten formula. This will be safe to feed him via a bottle, and I will put a link below on how to bottle feed an orphan kitten. Then I would have him seen by a vet in the morning to determine how old he is and his health status. Make sure he is kept warm. I hope this helps! http://www.2ndchance.info/orphankitten.htm
