This could be as severe as a fracture or something more mild like a soft tissue injury. The fact that he is crying when the leg is manipulated indicates that he is quite painful requiring pain control medications at least. If he does have a fracture, he may actually require surgery. For this reason it is crucial that he is indeed evaluated by a veterinarian. You could consider taking him to your local humane society as often times they offer less expensive veterinary care. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Lucy! Without examining her or seeing a picture of the wound it is hard to say. The wound alone can be painful or infected causing her to be lethargic, listless and strange. She could have gotten in to a fight, fell from a high height or even been hit by a car. The best thing for her is to be examined. I would ask your neighbors what vet they use that are inexpensive or call your local SPCA to see if they have a low cost veterinary clinic. Though it is a weekend and the SPCA clinics my not be open. I wish you the best!

Swelling of a superficial vein is known as phlebitis, and yes cats can get that. Without seeing Chandler in person, however, I can't say if that is the cause of this lump or not.
