Why does my Indian Ringneck bow its head and purr? Is it happy or sad?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male

I have a 9 months old indian ring neck ..I have noticed he goes to the bottom of cage and bows his head down .. Does that mean he is sad? And when I cuddle with him he makes a sound like purr .. Does that mean he is happy? Thank you.

He may be doing this for attention. If he is used to having you rub his head, he may be asking for head rubs by "bowing". The purring is a sound of contentment. He sounds like quite a lovable little guy! :-)
