Why is my bird not singing, stretching head, and opening beak?

Hi, what you are describing does sound like signs of illness. Kiwi could have an infection or other disease and it is important to have him evaluated by a veterinarian. Hello, I would recommend taking Ollie into his veterinarian for a check up. Birds often hide illness until it is very severe, so even a mildly quieter bird may be a very sick one. They will likely recommend bloodwork and x-rays to start investigating possible causes of illness. Rio is probably ill, but i couldn't tell you what is wrong based on these very general symptoms, you will need to take him to an avian vet where a blood test and faecal exam will be done to determine what is the cause of the disease before it can be treated.

This bird should be assessed by a veterinarian, as one of the possibilities are chlamydophila which could be transmitted to other birds and people. I am sorry that Kai isn't feeling well. From what you are describing, he may have a respiratory infection - this could be isolated to his upper respiratory system (nose and trachea/windpipe) or it could also be involving the lower respiratory system as well (lungs, such as pneumonia). I would recommend taking Kai to a veterinarian for evaluation. They can perform an examination, and may recommend taking radiographs (x-rays) to see what his lungs look like. They may also collect some of the fluid to evaluate for bacterial populations to see if there is an infection. They can then prescribe treatments depending on what they find - these may include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Please do not give Kai any human medications at home, as many of these can be harmful for our scaly friends. I hope that this gives you a place to start, and that Kai feels better very soon.
