My potbelly pig ate my engagement ring. Is it an emergency? What to do?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. This may pass without problem. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet immediately. I would monitor her (and check her poop for the ring) over the next three days. Best of luck.

That requires an immediate check up and possibly radiographs. The ring may eventually cause partial gastrointestinal obstruction or inflammation. I would strongly recommend to have Summer checked over to be on the safe side.

She will likely pass it within the next 24 hours. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that may indicate an obstruction. If you want to be 100% safe, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. Vomiting can be induced via injection which should bring the scrunchie back up. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Buddy. I recommend taking him to see his veterinarian for x-rays. This will confirm whether or not he ate the ring. If so, you can monitor the stool. If not, then you will not need to worry about it. Intestinal transit time can vary greatly. It could pass today or tomorrow or it could be a long time. It will easier if you know it is in there or not. I hope this information helps!

It will be OK for you to wait until the morning and see how Charlie does overnight. Watch him closely for any vomiting and diarrhea. These are two symptoms of an intestinal blockage. Based on Charlie's size and the photo of the necklace you provided, I think that may pass without incident. Feed him as usual in the morning and see if he can keep the food down. If he does not want to eat then I would be concerned. If you end up taking him to the vet, x-rays can be performed to find the location of the necklace. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.

This should be pass through the intestine without causing major problems. I would recommend to monitor Coco for the next 48hours for any sign like lethargy, inappetence, vomiting or having diarrhoea. If that was the case a check up would be ideal.

What a naughty puppy. If the earring was small enough it has a good chance of coming out. I would feed Chewy 1/2 slice of bread twice a day, in between meals to help bind up the earring and then monitor the stools. Typically it can take 2-7 days for foreign objects to exit. Monitor him for signs of trouble which includes excessive vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite and little to no stools. If you see these signs then it's best to take him in to your vet for abdominal x-rays to see if it is lodged somewhere and further treatment. But as o said it likely will pass. I hope things work out well for your pup Chewy. Take care.
