Updated Recipe Not Shown

I dont know why these dog food companies always update the recipe to their limited ingredient diet bags. Moreso I don't understand why it is not printed in big letters on the new batches "NEW RECIPE" to notify customers of the change. They recently updated the recipe to add beet pulp. My dog was doing okay on this food until they made this change and now shes been having digestive issues. So I'm back to square one in trying to find an alternative that isnt a $130+ bag of RX food...

Great Product for my Great Dane with Skin Issues

Paula1953

This flavor of Natural Balance (Lamb and Brown Rice) for Large Breed has been an essential component of my Great Dane's diet in dealing with his skin issues. Of course, he hasn't missed too many meals - he likes whatever he eats! Yet, this food is good nutrition and does not adversely affect his system to cause skin flare ups or itching, either.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Difference in recent batches

I have been feeding this to my 80lb pit mix for over a year and have never had a problem but recently noticed the kibble has been much smaller (regular sized vs large breed size) in the last two bags and my dog does not like eating it as much. I saw another review that mentioned the same thing and that it was affecting his dog. Not sure if it’s a mixup but I’m also not sure I want to continue using this brand.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Two different formulas causing awful diarrhea

**Not a Petco problem, manufacturer problem** When you actually get the correct formula, it’s great. But it’s 50/50 each bag whether you’ll get the correct large breed kibble or some lighter smaller kibble that’s the wrong formula which causes horrible gas and diarrhea from an abrupt diet change. Seems like someone at the factory is mixing up formulas during packing and it’s been happening for months. I’ve emailed and NB didn’t even acknowledge the issue.

Best dog food ever!!!

I have been buying this brand (grain option) for my baby since we adopted her in October 2021. She is always so excited for her breakfast and dinner! Her coat is so shiny and beautiful, I think it’s the food. She’s also the healthiest she’s ever been, now being heartworm negative. We try to change the flavor up here and there so she can try new things. Highly recommend it.

My dog is allergic to chicken and many dog food varieties have chicken even though it may not be the main ingredient. This has no chicken.

We buy the large breed version of this food, but have bought the regular in the past as well. Our dog Jack really likes this food and I know it’s good for him. Jack is a good sized dog at about 80 lbs. Some foods don’t agree with him, but he does very well on this food. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a healthy easy to digest food at a reasonable cost.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Did something change? My dog loved this food and had been doing really well with it this last bag he does seem to want to eat and has started having diarrhea this week. Nothing else has changed in his diet.

  1. My Golden Retriever would not eat the big bag Duck and Potatoes I just bought. She has been eating this brand since a puppy, and she just turned one. It was strange, so I called the store and returned the bag. The store gave me another bag with no problems. I took it home and feed it to her and she started eating with no problem. I believe it was a bad bag.

Is there a difference between the bag with large dog on it and the other bag.

  1. The bags labeled large breed are different only in the size of the kibble.

Is your food AAFCO rated? Where is your product sourced? Where is it manufactored?

  1. Yes, all their Natural Balance LID dry dog foods are AAFCO compliant. The food is manufactured in California and South Carolina and most of the ingredients are from the U.S. though some are are sourced globally (primarily Canada) depending on availability (this may not always exclude China). EVERY BATCH is 3rd party tested and the results posted on their web site, including the bag I bought yesterday. This has been my Labs (5 so far) food for nearly 10 years and I can't imagine changing. None of their LID dry dog food has ever been recalled. The web site has a chat line also - ask them anything. Hopes this helps.
