The Canary Blenny is also known as the Canary Fang Blenny because they have fangs that are venomous. These fangs are used as defense against predators that try to attack. They very rarely bite humans but still use caution when handling. The reef safe Canary Blenny generally acclimates quickly to the captive environment, though they will jump if startled, so be sure to cover their aquarium. An aquarium of at least 30 gallons with a good mix of open swimming space and rockwork will make a suitable home for the life of the blenny since they only grow to be about 5". Canaries can be aggressive with similarly sized and shaped fish like dartfish and gobies. They are omnivores and require a mixed diet which should include finely-chopped marine meaty foods, algae and pellets. The Canary Blenny is bright yellow and males tend to be larger than females. They are found in the Western Central Pacific inhabiting shallow coastal waters.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
