Also known as the Popeye or Dragon Eye Goldfish. This goldfish has an egg shaped body, with its most distinctive feature, bulbous protruding eyes. However, due to the nature of its eyes, the Calico Telescope Goldfish has a difficult time seeing its food. Also, due to the long flowing finnage it is a slower than average swimmer. This makes it quite of a challenge for the Calico Telescope Goldfish to compete against faster swimming fish such as shubunkins. This variety of goldfish is also very social with other fish, swimming near and around other fish without any form of hostility. Calico Telescope Goldfish have been known to dig up gravel and plants. Needs plenty of room to swim as it is a relatively wide fish. Sharp edges on décor are discouraged due to their somewhat fragile eyes. Given proper care, goldfish have been known to live upwards of 20 years of age.
